SHELTER VOLUNTEERS:
Working with women and children who are victim’s of domestic and sexual violence can be both rewarding and daunting.  Special training is required to be prepared to deal with the various situations which may arise during your direct involvement.  Possible ways you can volunteer are:

  • Answer 24 hour crisis line
  • Provide transportation
  • Teach or provide life skills – cooking, budgeting, personal hygiene, etc.
  • Child Care
  • Assist with maintenance
  • Assist with moving furniture/belongings

Contact the Volunteer Coordinator today for more information on Shelter Volunteering opportunities.

SISTER’S:
Some volunteers may prefer working on behalf of the women and children, as opposed to working directly with them, or at a neutral site other than the shelter.  “Sister’s” is a group dedicated to supporting the shelter and services provided by the SEMO Family Violence Council to the Women and Children of the Missouri counties of St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Washington, Iron and Madison.  Member’s of Sister’s are asked to pay a $25.00 annual membership fee, of which $20 is a direct donation to the SEMO Family Violence Council.  Sister’s members are involved in the retail outlet “My Sister’s Place“.  More information can be found by clicking on ‘Retail Outlet “My Sister’s Place”’ above.  To sign up for membership, click here.
